Each month, we introduce and discuss a new monthly. Both our Director of Religious Affairs, Syed Asad Jafri,  and our principal, Mr. Boccia speak to the theme during morning assembly. Our students also complete a culminating activity related to the themes.

The theme for the month of September is Gratitude.

The Islamic concept of gratitude has been discussed through a wide variety of lenses.  On one hand, the theologians have used thankfulness to link the creation to their Creator by introducing gratitude as an innate need to both thank and be thanked.  The theological dimension narrates that when Man ponders on the many blessings they have been given, innately they seek the Giver.

“Therefore remember Me. I will remember you. Be grateful to Me and never show me ingratitude.” (2:152)

The scholars of Islamic ethics have used gratefulness as a catalyst for behavioural change.  When discussing the true methods of being thankful, they remind us that a truly thankful individual is one that uses the blessing for what it was meant to be used for.  Thus, gratitude becomes a tool by which an inner spiritual revolution may occur.

We ask Allah (swt) to make us of those who are grateful such that our sense of Tawhid strengthens and our behaviour mirrors that of a servant of His.
