One of the highlights of the 2024-25 academic year is enhancements to our learning journey at As-Sadiq Islamic School through Microsoft 365.
With the start of the new school year, we were thrilled to inform our school community about changes to our digital learning environment. As-Sadiq School is adopting Microsoft 365 as our primary platform for communication and collaboration. We successfully transitioned from Google Classroom to Microsoft Teams as our primary platform for online learning and classroom communication.
Why Microsoft 365?
Using Microsoft 365 in the classroom allows our students to learn a suite of skills and applications. Whether it’s Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access or OneNote, our students prepare for their futures today. Through this platform, we can create collaborative classrooms, connect in learning communities, and communicate with staff with the power of OneDrive, Teams, and more – all from a single experience in Office 365 Education.
For example, through Microsoft Teams, our students and teachers will have a robust set of tools and a more productive learning environment. Microsoft Teams offers a comprehensive and integrated platform that will enhance the learning experience for all our students. With Teams, students can access all their assignments, class materials, and communications in one place. It also allows for seamless collaboration between students and teachers, both in and out of the classroom. In conjunction with Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office 365) this is further enhanced with the whole suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and much more.
Getting set up on Microsoft 365
Instructions to get set up on on Microsoft Teams, along with log-in credentials, were emailed to each parent in mid-September 2024 from As-Sadiq Support ([email protected]). If you did not receive this email, please contact As-Sadiq Support. Parents are encouraged to follow the instructions in the email from As-Sadiq Support to get child(ren) set up. As a refresher, here we go:
- Visit office.com and log in using your child’s credentials.
- Once logged in, you’ll see the Microsoft apps icon on the left side of the screen such as Outlook (for email), Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more.
- Spend time with your child to familiarize yourselves with the site and apps. You will need to download and install the Teams app, instead of using the online version.
Let’s get started with Microsoft (MS) Teams
We encourage everyone to download and install the MS Teams app rather than using the web-based online version.
Here are the links to download the app based on your devices: Windows Devices, iOS and Apple Devices, Android Devices
We’re here to help!
Recognizing that change can take time, we are here to support our school community along the way. We’re confident that this transition will benefit our students’ learning journey.
