At As-Sadiq Islamic School, we value professional development for all our staff. As such, we have various opportunities throughout the year dedicated to professional development.
The Professional Development Day – Spiritual Retreat – on September 27, 2024, began with a surah fateha in memory of Marhum Syed Asad Jafri, who was with us at last year’s spiritual retreat. We miss Marhum dearly and his legacy continues to live in on our school. Please recite a surah fateha for our beloved Marhum.
Unpacking what deen is and incorporating it into our lives
This year’s spiritual retreat was filled with a deeper understanding of what deen is. Maulana Najafi, our incoming Director of Religious Affairs, spoke to our staff on what deen is at multiple levels, and how we can incorporate this understanding into our daily lives as administrators, educators and individuals.
As part of the retreat, our staff were invited to participate in a creative, communal art activity. To prepare, our staff reflected on individual moments of success that they’ve had as educators, whether recently or in the past. This involved thinking about all aspects of their work – with children, colleagues, parents and their own personal and professional growth. We reminded our colleagues that successful moments aren’t just major achievements … small everyday moments often have an extraordinary impact.
Thank you to all our staff for participating so actively and vulnerable. Together, we are working hard to elevate Our As-Sadiq Islamic School through excellence in our teaching approaches and learning journey for our students!
